A leading Software House in the West Midlands is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer / Team Leader to join its growing engineering team. This role is ideal for a senior-level Java professional who enjoys hands-on development alongside technical leadership, mentoring, and architecture ownership.

You will lead a team of Java developers while driving the re-architecture of brownfield systems and the design and development of greenfield, cloud-native applications, following modern DevOps principles and best practices.

The Role

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Java developers

  • Hands-on development using modern Java and Spring-based technologies

  • Re-architect legacy (brownfield) applications and build new greenfield solutions

  • Contribute to cloud-native application design and DevOps adoption

  • Collaborate closely with product, DevOps, and architecture teams

Key Skills & Experience (Required)

  • Proven experience as a Java Developer / Senior Java Developer / Java Team Lead

  • Strong commercial experience with:

    • Java 8+

    • Spring Framework (Spring Boot preferred)

    • Hibernate

    • Maven

    • Tomcat

  • Experience with Microservices architecture or strong DevOps experience

  • Solid understanding of modern software development best practices

Location & Working Pattern

  • Birmingham / West Midlands based role

  • Remote working available, with an expectation to attend the office 1–2 days per week in the future

  • Ideal for candidates commuting from Solihull, Coleshill, Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, or surrounding areas

Salary & Benefits
