Java Developer

Location: Leeds (Hybrid)
Contract Type: Permanent
Start Date: ASAP (January 2026 preferred)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer for a permanent role based in Leeds, offering a flexible hybrid working model (2 days per week remote, 3 days on-site).

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading global IT transformation consultancy, delivering large-scale digital modernisation programmes across UK Government and public sector clients.

The Role

You will work as part of an agile, multi-disciplinary team, designing, developing and supporting secure, scalable Java-based solutions in a modern cloud environment. The role involves close collaboration with DevOps teams and contributing across the full software development lifecycle.

Key Skills & Experience

Core Technologies

• Strong experience in Java development across both back-end and front-end

• Kotlin, Java, AngularJS, NodeJS

• SQL and version control using Git / GitHub

• Experience working in DevOps-oriented teams

AWS Cloud Experience

• Hands-on experience with AWS services including:

  • S3, Athena, Glue, Lambda, DynamoDB, OpenSearch

  • CloudFormation, API Gateway, ECS, CloudWatch

  • Amazon Step Functions for complex workflow orchestration

Databases

• Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB

CI/CD & DevOps

• Building and managing CI/CD pipelines

• Supporting the development and operation of secure Java applications

• Solid understanding of DevOps / DevSecOps practices

• Experience designing and implementing secure systems

Desirable Skills

• Containerisation experience using Docker and ECS

• AWS Certified Developer – Associate (preferred)

• Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 (DOE)
